The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Midlands Crimestoppers need your help locating Jeremy Ballew, who was last seen on Halloween, 10/31/19, walking on Free Moon Circle towards Fall Branch Road in the St. Matthews area of Calhoun County, SC. The time of day he was last seen is not certain. He is a white male, 36 years old, 6’0”, and weighs 200 lbs. He has tattoos on both arms and one of the tattoos is a cross on the outer bi-cep area of his left arm. Law enforcement is hopeful someone recalls seeing him or knows where he may be located. Missing SC business owner found dead in wrecked vehicle

After weeks of searching, officers announced they discovered the man inside a wrecked vehicle.

Fairfield County, SC (WLTX) - Fairfield County deputies say a South Carolina business owner who'd been missing for weeks has been found dead.

Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill says 41-year-old Douglas William Sumner was found inside a wrecked vehicle on Highway 21 in Fairfield County. Officers believe he ran off the road, then went down a 60 foot embankment where he vehicle hit a tree.

The Great Falls man had last been seen on October 22. Rewards had been offered for information during the search to find him.

Sumner owned Sumner's Deli and Grocery. Sheriff Will Montgomery had said weeks ago that Sumner was well-liked in the community.

 

This incident is still under investigation by the Coroner’s Office, SC Highway Patrol and SLED.
